Hi! Thank you for stopping by my blog. As you can see, I have not posted anything for a long time other than our weekly Idea Box Link Up. After I finally found some time, I would like to share
My 1st Christmas Village with you.
I got this clever idea from my blogging friend, Jennifer! After she shared her DIY paper village, I just had to make one! You can find Jennifer's on her blog here along with the patteren to make the paper houses.
Here are some pictures of them after I made them in my craft room:
The only one that I didn't make was the white church. I bought that one at Dollar Tree. I wanted a church to go with my village. I loved adding glitter to them to make them sparkle!
I already had the Santa Clause, scrapbook paper, and most of the other items. I purchased them at Michael's last year. Not sure I remember how much they were, but I would guess $3-$5.
After I was done making them, it was time to place them where I wanted them....
...on my new fireplace, of coarse! When I saw Jennifer's village I knew that if I made a village, it was going on my fireplace mantle. Would you believe that I got this fireplace for FREE?!! Can you believe that someone left this beautiful fireplace in an apartment, where my hubby works, and we got it! I do plan on painting it white, but just haven't found the time yet. SIGH.
I placed the Dollar Tree church and some bottle brush trees along with a silver and blue paper house on the shelf on the wall above my fireplace.

Olaf says hi.
Some of the paper houses have tea lights in them to make them light up. I enjoyed making the windows and doors that can open and shut. Adding sparkle around the windows made it look like snow had been falling. Also, adding the decor on the houses made them look special. Did you notice the rick-rack on of them?
Here is a view from the top.
List of items used for this project were:
Scotch tape (for securing the items)
Bottle brush trees
Do you have a village that you would like to share? I would love to see them.
Thanks for stopping by!
